Saturday Evening Post - 10/8/11

Welcome back to the "Saturday Evening Post", a place to share this week's top news-worthy stories with you.  Tonight's post coming at you after the break... but first let me attempt wooing you with a "Stamos Scalper".

So let's get right down to the most incredible news of the week.  The Bluth's are back baby!!.. After years of rumors and speculations, series creator Mitchel Hurwitz confirmed this week that there will be an "Arrested Development" movie and possibly one more season consisting of about 10 episodes.  It's been 5 years since the last season and in most fans' eyes that's five years too long.   If you've never seen "Arrested Development" I highly recommend checking it out, Netflix currently has all three seasons streaming.  What are you waiting for, huh?  Don't be a chicken!

In other news, "The Simpsons" were in dire straits this week with FOX executives looking for a 45% salary cut to the voice actors of the series.  However, after a week of negotiations it looks like they were able to strike a deal with "The Simpsons" being renewed for two more seasons.  Everyone had to figure this would all be worked out, after all, "The Simpsons" are a staple of our society, how could FOX ever cancel it without a proper goodbye?

Show me that smile again...  We can't credit Alan Thicke for those lyrics but we can credit the entire cast for making them memorable.  A mini "Growing Pains" reunion this week on "Good Morning America" (i guess we are pretending Chrissy never existed - can't blame them), bringing with them a flood of sitcom memories.  I want everyone to sing the theme song to themselves... okay, got it?  Now quick, someone tell me how the "Family Ties" theme song goes! Impossible!

After deciding to quit acting and making his final "Fringe" appearance two years ago, Leonard Nimoy has now done his last "Star Trek" convention.  Looks like he will still be doing some voice acting but I sincerely hope this is not the last we see of him and I'm not even a Star Trek fan (other than J.J. Abrams reboot). Live long and prosper Mr Nimoy.

Jenna Fischer of "The Office" has given birth to her first child, proving that even Gimli (Lord of the Rings) can reproduce with a celebrity.

And now, I'll leave you with some words of wisdom from Uncle Jesse himself.
